| This is the Rose Double Bedroom. As with all our rooms it is cool in the summer and warm in the winter. A fly screen keeps out the unwanted guests and we use only the best of linen available |
The 'Rose' double bedroom is a good size. It is styled with warm red soft furnishings and bed linen and has a quality bed. There is plenty of space for personal belongings. There is a large en-suite shower room with central heating for the winter. Quality colour co-ordinated towels and a hairdryer are provided.
The 'Violet' bedroom has comfortable twin beds, (these may be moved together if required). The room is dramatically decorated in shades of rich violet and mauve, with quality soft furnishings and colour co-ordinated bed linen. Although it is not as large as the Rose room, you will find everything that you need is provided. The centrally heated private shower room is literally two footsteps opposite, affording extra privacy for friends travelling together. It is tiled in a striking black and white design and fresh white towels and a hairdryer are provided. The shower enclosure is larger than usual, with plenty of elbowroom for singing energetically whilst showering!
The Salon
The lounge at Le Moulin is impressive and comfortable. Wonderful oak beams soar to the raised ceiling. The enormous chimney almost divides the room into two. The original oil mill stood here. The magnificent walnut oil press, which dates back to the mid 1800s and is still in working order, stands in pride of place in the cosy fireplace side of the salon. On the other side of the chimney there are patio doors at either end of the room. At the south-facing end the doors open out onto the raised terrace; the terrace overlooks the gardens and the pretty countryside beyond. This is where we serve evening meals in summer for our Bed, Breakfast and Evening Meal guests. However, when our guests return from their day exploring the area, they rarely avail themselves of the comfort of this elegant room. The sun and scenery beckons and they prefer to either sit on the terrace as they sip their pre-dinner aperitif, or to sit in the shade of a tree in the garden.
In the autumn as the nights draw in, in winter and on rare days of inclement summer weather, we serve dinner in the salon, with its lovely views out over the garden and beyond.
The Kitchen
Breakfast is usually served in the very large family kitchen. In its time as a working mill, this was the mill floor of the flourmill. Depending on which side of the huge table one sits, there is either a view of the millstream through the French doors, or a view of the countryside surrounding the mill. There is an area of glass floor through which the millstream below can be seen. The original millstones have been incorporated into stonewalls that surround the grounds.
